The trees were dappled a pale orange-green in the light from the setting sun. The leaves blowing gently in reverse direction so that their pale undersides showed...a storm was brewing. The grey and black clouds were quickly building in the west, moving in to cover the last of the sunset's beauty, turning the sky dark. The last of the evening's light shone down on a small clearing in the Verboten Copse, closest to the Park. The clearing was empty; a few leaves blew gently across the ground, empty husks that rattled as they were shuttled along the dry ground. There was the soft sound of bells on the wind. Within a few moments, a Euclides was visible, a long limbed Masquerade, white fur marbled with lilac and soft greens, sashayed into the open area and sat delicately in the center, head turned upward toward the sky. She sat in silence for a few moments as the storm clouds blotted out the last of the sunlight. Once the light was gone, she arose...her form changing in subtle ways until she was in her second from. She always preferred to be of a bipedal nature, anthromorphic, when she came to do this. Slowly, she extended a hind leg, the purple scales gleaming dully as she raised her talons over her head. The, quietly and gently at first, she began to dance. The movements started off slowly, gracefully, the grape-like bells adorning her body rang softly off of the twined slivery ornaments holding them in place. She began to sing to herself, voice soft and alluring as she felt the rain begin to fall, barely anything at the moment, she knew t would be a downpour within a half hour. No matter, home was close by, she would go back soon. Twirling about as she sang, the few raindrops hitting the parched earth, the Masquerade danced. "I am the last of the few in this time, To find the way over this stream, Consciousness holds me, back from the dam, When I lose it I'm free from this dream..."She whispered the song's refrain as she moved about the clearing, eyes glinting behind her mask, waiting...always waiting...

The Masquerade was not the only Euclides out at the start of the storm. A Music, black coat adorned with the white-and-lilac markings of his type, was prowling slowly towards his dwelling. He was in no rush; he knew that he wasn’t needed right away at home, and, truth-be-told, he was enjoying time away from those he lived with. Not his Cast, for he had none, but the eccentric little group that shared his abandoned theatre. My abandoned theatre? he thought to himself. Psh. He was a Puppet, lowest of his kind. He knew that the others only tolerated him in the theatre because he’d been living there before any of the rest of him even discovered the little place. And even with recent events bringing him some slight bit more respect than he’d previously had, he wasn’t in much of a rush to be back under the glares and orders of the rest of the bunch. They’ve never appreciated my musical endeavors, anyway, he added mentally, a sulky afterthought. He sniffed the wind, pausing suddenly, his mood shifting from moody to wary. Another was about. He inched forwards, pressing himself in amongst the trees, eyes scanning around him. His ears caught the hint of a song, and he paused before continuing slowly forward, until he finally saw the source of the scent and the song. He watched as the fellow Euclides began to dance, staying rather still and quiet, unwilling to interrupt.

"My life has been taken from me. I've yet to see what it was that I sought, Avenge me my time was taken, For what have I fought?
I am the last of the few in this time, To find the way over this stream, Consciousness holds me, back from the dam, When I lose it I'm free from this dream..."
She continues to sing, her dance becoming faster as the rain goes from one or two drops to a small drizzle, the air begins to cool...thunder is heard on the distant air.
She smiles, the edges of her silver beak turning upward as she senses two watching her...her companion, and someone else. The Masquerade spins about, limbs moving to the sound of the rain, thunder, and her own voice. She continues, the small bells ringing in time to her steps, she repeats the refrain and her dancing begins to slow again.
She tilts her head toward the dark sky as she moves, watching the clouds race in as the rain fall increases, though still light.
"The end I have faced, Though sad it may seem, We are but a race... Of the last broken dream..."
Her song ceases and she slowly stops dancing, she stares up at the sky for a few more seconds before seating herself on a stone, she glances about her and chuckles softly.
"You need not hide, friend...we know you are here."

The Music Euclides, having been acknowledged, stepped cautiously free of the bushes he’d been watching from. He glanced around, curious as to whether others were watching, but his focus came back to the dancer, where she sat upon the stone. He found that the jingling of her bells put him at ease, but he reminded himself silently that she was likely far above his rank, and could easily cast him aside. He knew his species enough to know to stay on his guard…
He gave a little bow of his head in greeting, his mane dropping in front of his eyes. Idly, he shook it out of his face. “Lovely song,” he commented. “And exquisite dancing,” he added.
He hadn’t seen many Euclide dance like that… though, he supposed mentally that he hadn’t seen many others dance at all, really. Acting? Oh, he’d seen plenty of that, but far less singing and dancing. As a Music type, though, he appreciated such a performance immensely, and that appreciation colored his words.
"Erm." He realized he had not given an actual introduction. "I'm Jayensi," he tacked on, a bit awkwardly.

She watched, head tilted elegantly, the rain making a soft pattering noise as it hit her mask and the stone she was sitting on. She knew the type at once...Music. She had heard of them, but never seen any. She wondered at once if he had a Cast...she would love to "keep" this one. What a beautiful face...unlike so many others, she wondered how well he would do in the setting her Cast and Court provided. She smiled as he complimented her. "Why thank you." She murmured, feigning a blush and holding a purple scaled hand to her face, as though to hide embarrassment. "I've been working on them for a bit, they have a way of relaxing the soul..." "Jayensi?" She rolled the name off of her tongue, as though tasting it...she seemed pleased. She stood and walked toward him, as she moved she changes slowly back into her quadrapedal form. She stood before him and offered her paw, as she would to an equal. "I am the Lady, Dayobi. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, dear Jayensi." She smiled at him, eyes glinting behind the mask. The rain began to get heavier; a shadow appeared behind the Masquerade, descending soundlessly from the sky. It still made no sound as it unfolded a large red and black wing. This it held extended over the Dayobi to shield her from the worst of the damp. She nodded her head in acknowledgement. "Ah, yes of course. Jayensi? This is Ja'Kaefurl, a dear friend of mine...he enjoys a bit of dance every now and then, and tends to accompany me on these trips..." She gazed beyond the other Euclides, who could now clearly be made out as a Carrion, and stared at the sky. "The rain is picking up...and I would like to be out of the storm...do you have a place for us to stay, dear Jayensi? Or shall we go to my home? It isn't far from here, and I welcome you to stay the night and a warm meal."

Jayensi nodded in reply to her comment about the song and dance relaxing the soul. “I would definitely agree,” he replied.
At her movement towards him, he refrained from the urge to drop into a more submissive crouch. His experience with others had not led him to trust easily, but this female was being kind to him. I have no reason to mistrust her, he thought to himself, and while he did not put all of his caution aside, he allowed himself to remain a bit more at ease.
He tilted his head slightly as she offered her paw, and then gently placed his own onto it, and bowed over it, attempting to be slightly less awkward and slightly more gentlemanly. “Lady Dayobi,” he repeated. “A lovely name, and a pleasure to meet you, as well.”
Jayensi found that he rather liked the way his own name sounded when she spoke it, without the obvious tones of superiority and arrogance that he was used to. He pushed away the thought at the arrival of the other Euclides, though, a hint of wariness prickling back through him. When the newcomer, Ja’Kaefurl, showed no outward aggression towards him, he calmed a bit.
“Pleased to meet you,” he said to the Carrion, though he was not entirely sure what to make of the Chiroptae.
At Dayobi’s request to move out of the storm, Jayensi hesitated. He had a responsibility at home, and as it was, he had been away for longer than intended. While he enjoyed moments of time away, he knew that it was a duty he could not shirk… “I can offer us some shelter nearby,” he responded, and hoped that the Euclides he lived with would not be around to harass him and the guests, should they choose to go there. “I must admit that I have someone dependant on me at home, and I cannot leave him for too much longer…”
He waited for the response, hoping that he would not having to part ways with these new acquaintances just yet, but torn by his need to return.

Dayobi noticed the other's slight hesitation to grasp her paw...she wondered if he was of lowly breeding...perhaps a script writer...or puppet? She would look into that later, things didn't need to be of the highest rank to grab her attention...they had to be individuals...
She smiled at the compliment on her name, truly delighting in the praise this time...she loved her name, she had chosen it herself.
The large Carrion nodded to the Music type, removing a thin stemmed pipe from his mouth a blowing out a ring of smoke. He smiled, head twitching slightly, and spoke; voice soft and deep, surprisingly lovely and gentlemanly...he never looked it. "Good to meet you too, master Jayensi. I'm hoping my Lady will agree to accompany you...I'm getting fair enough soaked..." He smiled at the Masquerade, who gave him a playful shove as though it were a common joke between the two.
Dayobi laughed softly, causing the bells adorning her body to ring. "Of course, dear Jayensi, we would love to accompany you for a while. Please, lead on." She stood, padding her way along under the carrion's extended wing. The rain grew heavier, it would soon be a full down pour.
Dayobi turned to her companion and whispered, audibly. "What good fortune for us to have met this gentleman, surely the evening shall be wondrous with company such as his."
The Chiroptae nodded, both appearing to think they were quiet enough to not be overheard "Aye, he seems of good stock, if not of rank. I like him so far, my Lady."
Dayobi turned back to the Music type, smiling. "Where is it that you live, dear friend?"

Jayensi was put further at ease by the Carrion’s polite manner. These two seem quite friendly… and that’s quite a pleasant surprise, he thought to himself.
Jayensi led them towards the abandoned theatre he dwelt in, occasionally shaking the water out of his wet mane. His ear twitched at the whisper, and he felt a slight flush, luckily hidden by the darker fur on his face. It seemed strange, that these two did not seem to question rank immediately and judge on it… he’d met very few like them. I suppose, though, he thought to himself, that I haven’t exactly been seeking out much company lately. Certainly they are not the only other Euclide to be so kind, but I’m rather glad that it was them I stumbled across, and not other, less friendly creatures.
At the Lady’s question, he turned towards her, and motioned with a paw. “A few blocks outside of the park, but easy enough to get to in the shadows.” He glanced around. “Of course, few humans will be out now, anyway, so I don’t think we’ll have much trouble arriving there.” He gave a quick grin, though it became a smile with a hint of embarrassment. “I’ll apologize in advance, though, for the fact that it’s not really the most impressive of places… I try to keep it in decent enough repair, but, well…” he gave an apologetic shrug, “I’m a bachelor, for the most part, and I suppose my living arrangements mirror that.”
The theatre was in sight soon enough, and he led the two others around to a side entrance, one that would, hopefully, bypass the hallways used by the puppeteers he lived with (and didn’t much care for). He paused at the entrance, glancing back once more. “I should also warn you that the charge in my care is a little… unusual.” He left it at that, and led them inside and down a short hallway, then into a room that must have once served as a parlor or dressing room of some sort. Currently, it was filled with old, though comfortable pillows, and a few candles shed light onto a loveseat against one wall, and a mismatched, overstuffed chair off to the side. In a corner, sheets of music lay scattered around, and a curtain blocked off an area on the far side of the room.
“Make yourselves at home,” Jayensi said. He felt a flutter of nervousness, hoping that his guests weren’t too put off by his dwelling.

Dayobi and her escort followed close behind the Music Euclides. The Masquerade was delighted, a hidden theater...full of, from their hosts description and uneasy actions, a headless rabble? What could be better?
She stepped delicately over puddles, the large Carrion beside her hopping over them as best he could. He gazed at his lady, eyebrows raised. She shot him a smile, eyes hooded, a signal to learn all he could...he knew that signal well. He grinned amicably around the stem of his pipe...his job would be to meet others and find out what he could about them.
Dayobi waved off the Music's apologies. "Don't worry yourself, I'm certain that your dwelling can't possibly be in worse condition than some of those in my home...some of them keep...questionable living spaces... I'm sure we'll be quite comfortable in your home."
The large Carrion laughed, water drizzling from his fur as his shoulders shook. "You must mean Mulsej's room, my Lady...ugh. I agree good dark, but it's been foul ever since he let that Infection stay over, that Maskenji."
She laughed with him. "Or the room of those terrible Lapine triplets? Have you ever seen such a mess? They all have to curl up in the center of the floor to avoid sleeping on all the odds and ends they collect." Both continued joking to put their host at ease.
Dayobi took into account the contents of the room; it wasn't half as bad as she had expected it to be. The sheets of music scattered about were to be expected, and the furniture was quite welcome. At being told to make herself at home, she groomed as much water off of herself as she could, before claiming the loveseat. She hopped up on it and made herself comfortable, watching as Furl also attempted to free himself of water.
"What a cozy cove you possess..." Dayobi murmured. "Not a bad place at all, Furl, our guest is too humble."
Furl smiled, turning to the Music type. Now that they were out of the rain, Furl's face was clearly visible, his features were set into a calm, and fairly happy expression, but his irises, a pale grey, never stopped moving. They flickered about in his sockets, to the point that they were almost a blur. His eyelids were hooded.
"So who's this charge you have to look to? Might we meet them as well?"

Jayensi was relieved that his guests didn’t seem put off by his little lair. Their joking helped to melt away his tension, and he was glad when they settled right in. He was also relieved that they’d managed not to be interrupted by the others… while his ‘housemates’ weren’t all bad, they hadn’t shown him enough kindness in the past to warrant introductions, as far as he was concerned. His charge was a different case, however. Jayensi had noted that when the youngling had first arrived, after the period of curious inspection by the others, they’d started leaving Jayensi alone a lot more… “Hrm,” Jayensi murmured, in response to Furl’s question concerning the charge. “He’s likely nearby…” Jayensi peered towards the curtain at the back, concealing another door, usually left partially ajar. “’Skae?” he called softly, “we have company.” There was a soft thump, followed by a sliding sound. It paused, before anything was visible, and then continued, and then the creak of a door was audible. The curtain at the far end was slowly pushed aside, a not-quite-human hand and eyes visible, before the youngling slithered fully into view before pausing again. The Naga-child blinked owlishly, and studied the two guests with a mix of curiosity and appraisal. His eyes flickered towards the Music Euclides, though, as Jayensi spoke. “You have eaten?” Jayensi asked, sounding very much like a concerned parent, and the youngling nodded, and then returned his gaze to the others. Jayensi looked to the newcomers, curious as to whether they’d have strong reactions. His charge wasn’t exactly the most common sight amongst the young Euclides running around, that was for certain. “This is Faujeskae, my charge,” he spoke to them, and ‘Skae dipped his head in a silent greeting. “’Skae, this is the Lady Dayobi, and her companion Ja’Kaefurl.” “ Dayobi and Ja’Kaefurl,” ‘Skae repeated, his voice deeper than one would normally attribute to someone of his age. “ Jayensi doesn’t bring home guests very often.” His ‘ess’ sounds were slightly drawn out, though not overly so. He settled himself into a nest of pillows, curling his tail around his body, his hair obscuring one side of his face.

Dayobi waited with anticipation as she heard the odd noises come closer...it sounded a lot like....
The Naga slid into view.
Dayobi and Furl very carefully hid their surprise...it was certainly easier this time than it had been the first. It was much easier not to make a spectacle the second time one saw a Naga.
Dayobi observed the parent-like aspect that overcame Jayensi when he interacted with the Naga...it was endearing. She smiled and dipped her head in greeting. "Good to meet you my dear, 'Skae, is it?" She extended a purple scaled paw. "It is always a pleasure to meet new people, especially when they are as pleasant to be around as yourself and dear Jayensi."
Furl extended a leg and made an elegant bow, one wing pushed out behind him. "Good evening, young master 'Skae." He murmured, tapping the bulb of his pipe against the wall. "Your friend, Jayensi deserves more company from what we've seen, an excellent character. Any should be jealous..."
Dayobi nodded. Looking the two over. They fit somehow...it was odd but they seemed to be like each other...unlike the other Naga and his keeper. She smiled brightly. "I would very much enjoy it if you could show us around." She whispered. "I would love to see the rest of this place, I've never known it was here."
She tilted her head to the side. "I would also like to invite the two of you to a dinner I will be having in two nights time. I would love to have you as guests..." She stood, and passed Jayensi to stand by Furl, as she passed she murmured into his ear. "Or perhaps even as members..."
Furl winked at him as his Lady rejoined him. The Carrion looked gentle, almost kindly; if it weren't for his darting eyes and firm stance around Dayobi. Still he posed no threat unless threat was dealt, and was feeling amicable about the two...in so far..

‘Skae took Dayobi’s paw, much less awkward about the matter than Jayensi. He offered a little bow of his own to Furl, as well. Youngling he may have been, but he’d learned manners. Mostly.
‘Skae turned towards Jayensi at the comments from Dayobi and Furl concerning his company. He made no attempt to lower his voice, and so was perfectly audible to the guests. “See? Just because you let the others walk all over you does not mean everyone has the right to. Some,” he flicked his tail-tip towards Dayobi and Furl, “actually have the manners that others living here lack.” The Naga made a small derisive sound, drawn out further by the hiss in his speech.
Jayensi mumbled something in return about rank and puppeteers, only to be cut off by another sound from the Naga. “They are not your puppeteers, are they? No. They don’t have the right to treat you badly.”
Jayensi looked embarrassed for a few moments, and only offered a shrug in response. To Dayobi and Furl, he said simply, “He speaks his mind.”
“More than you do,” came the muttered, nearly-inaudible comment from ‘Skae, which Jayensi chose to ignore.
Jayensi looked rather shocked at Dayobi’s remark about both the dinner and about becoming members… and he was surprised enough to miss the smug, I-told-you-so-esque look from the young Naga.
“I… er… we would be honored to attend,” the Music stuttered, with another of his awkward little bows towards Dayobi and Furl, and an incredulous tone in his voice. “And of course, we’d be glad to show you around, though I warn that, well, we’re not on the best of terms with the others that live here.”
“They’re scared of me,” ‘Skae added, and for all that he’d displayed a mature outlook with his earlier statements, there was an unmistakable childish glee to this one.
Jayensi motioned the others towards the door and back into the hallway for the tour of the theatre, still flustered by Dayobi’s words, and trying unsuccessfully to cover it. “From what I’ve managed to discover, even in the height of its use, this place never did very well, and closed down pretty early. Afterwards, no one really paid the building much attention. Which worked out well enough for me…”
Another door led into a stage area, and in corners here, as back in the room, pages of music could be seen decorating the floor. Beyond the doorway were the huge curtains draping down onto the stage, now only lit by a few shielded flames here and there. Beyond the stage, as would be expected, were the rows of seats, upholstered in teal fabric, worn and tattered in some areas, but mostly intact throughout the large room.

Dayobi kept a straight face for the sake of Jayensi's pride and simply nodded at the youngling's words. Furl on the other hand began chuckling. It slowly rose to a low laugh, as he listened to the Naga's words.
"Now I want to see the place more than ever, Jayensi..." He murmured, turning his disconcerting gaze upon the Music Euclides. "I despise those who throw their weight around...when they've got nothing to throw...let's meet them shall we?" He moved to stand at the door frame, towering over the others by at least a foot. He grinned, teeth squeaking slightly on the pipe stem.
Dayobi nodded curtly, staring about at the space before her and nodding to the Naga and Music. "Out of curiosity, my dears, have you ever considered what it would be like if they were all to suddenly...leave?" She smiled, soulless eyes glinting behind her green and purple mask. "This certainly seems to be a nice theater...a little fixing up and it could go a long way."
She smiled again and patted Jayensi on the shoulder. "Regardless, I am badly in need of a composer, my dear... Please do consider my offer. I am, of course, delighted to hear you will attend my banquet, I will have to inform Atreju...perhaps he can bring his father..."
Furl smiled, eyes darting rapidly, expression serene. "Lord Xerxes? I suppose he might deign to come if Atreju will be there with the children..."
Dayobi smiled, seemingly satisfied. "Very good, remind him when we get back, will you Furl?"
The Chiroptae nodded, turning to the Naga. "You do right to defend the honor of those under you...charisma and kindness are some of the best gifts...and finely tuned weapons I've ever seen... One day you will show the world that much...young master 'Skae." He then turned to move off after Jayensi...eager to meet the others.
((OOC: I won't try to kick the others out, especially if you want them to stay in there XD Furl's just going to try to bully a bit. <3))

Jayensi wasn’t quite sure what to make of the exchange… aside from ‘Skae, who was still young, he’d never come across higher-ranking Euclides that had bothered to treat him with so much respect. And, truth be told, he’d expected unkindness to be normal, and that one day, even his young charge would grow out of the apparent benevolence he’d been bestowing upon Jayensi. It sort of blew his mind to find out that this wasn’t really the case. At Dayobi’s comment about needing a composer, he found himself perking up quite a bit… a chance for his music to be appreciated? That would be wonderful, indeed! Who knew that one evening could bring him so much good fortune? Jayensi had heard some of the names they mentioned before… but he hadn’t been social enough to really know exactly who the names referred to. Mostly, he’d been so busy rushing around, doing errands for the others and feeding himself (and now ‘Skae), that socializing had been far from his mind. Particularly with his notions of rank dictating kindness. ‘Skae looked up at Furl, head tilted as he listened. “ Thank you, sir,” he replied to Furl’s words, and gave a smile, glancing in Jayensi’s direction. “ I’ve had a good teacher, in such matters… and there is a time to be kind, and a time to be, well, less so.” He grinned, particularly noting Furl’s eagerness to meet the others. “A veritable army I’ve managed to raise,” Jayensi remarked quietly, amusement coloring his voice, as he led them further into the theatre. As they emerged onto the stage area, a concentration of lights could be seen on a balcony. Aside from the flickering of candle flame, and some slight movements and rustlings, it was hard to make out what was up there. “And of all of them to come across…” Jayensi mumbled, before whatever is up there interrupted… dramatically. “ Hark! Who goes there? Jayensi, what mess have you brought to our doorstep?” An overly large helping of drama seemed to drip from the words. Jayensi let out a sigh, and ‘Skae rolled his eyes, as the movement in the balcony solidified into a form. A rune-covered Chiroptae launched himself down at the group on the stage. He landed in the midst of the group in a flurry of wings, and his eyes passed quickly over the assembled Euclides… and came to rest almost immediately on Dayobi. Shouldering Jayensi out of the way with one wing, he offered the Lady a low bow. “ O! She doth teach the torches to burn bright!” he exclaimed upon rising, casting his eyes to the flickering candles above before returning his gaze to her. “ May I inquire the name of such a fair maiden?” he asked, effectively ignoring the others.

Furl smiled, teeth bared around the pipe. "Good thought's, my boy... You're wise beyond your years...you'll make an excellent leader someday."
Dayobi nodded in agreement, smiling. "I'd be happy to assist you in any way I can, young 'Skae. You need only ask."
The voice from the ceiling caused them both to look up, watching as the shape pulled itself from the shadows and then dropped to the ground...another Chiroptae. Furl set his face into one of wan disengagement... secretly delighted.
Dayobi paused, smile still in place. She held out a paw to the new comer. "I would appear to be a part of this horrible mess upon your doorstep." She replied softly, and appearing to be still in good spirits. "Though I would prefer my title, I am the Lady Dayobi."
She turned and gestured behind her. "This is my esteemed master of Conventionalism, Ja'Kaefurl..."
Furl stepped forward, a head taller that the other Chiroptae, he smiled, eyes darting about in their sockets continuously as he leaned over the other Euclides. He was also a Puppeteer, he felt nothing but a quiet anger at the disrespect this other showed... He removed his pipe and nodded, blowing smoke at the other's face.
"Good to meet you to...sir..." He grinned returning the pipe to its place between his teeth. He then looked back at the Naga. "Is this one of the charming lads you told us about?" He asked serenely, eyes hooded.
