Chaos had erupted only days earlier and most Euclides still did not know why. She herself even, didn’t know of Arry or anything going on behind-the-scenes. She was surprised, honestly, that the Amuni had the balls to become so aggressive. “Eradicate” them? What a laugh. She’d have to see them try, for sheer amusement’s sake. Though some of the Popes were cause for worry, she was light on her feet and chose her targets carefully.
The whole “war” concept was none of her concern or business, and she didn’t care to be bothered with it, but for the sake of keeping the peace… as peaceful as things had ever been, anyway… she felt the need to do a certain… pest control, from time to time. It was just such an occasion that brought her about the park, stalking beneath thick coverage of trees and growing nightfall.
Sabira was a strange sight, and growing up had not changed that. She was bigger, but no less bizarre. Ukuraibhi twisted around inside her head, eager to have a chance to play tonight. When Sabira had taken the girl’s soul strand, she hadn’t been so malicious… but time inside the Director’s head had warped her apparently, for Ukura’s hunger and humor seemed to get darker by the day.
She spotted a canine not too far off and smirked inwardly to herself. The Amuni certainly did have a fashion of sticking out… she was bright and colourful in her yellows and light blue. Like a daffodil on a summer sky… and Sabira was not fond of daffodils. She came at the other like a shadow of knives and pain, her claws taking expert movements down the spine of the other.
Immediately the female went into shock, but still tried to recover and fight back. The lunge hadn’t been heard or seen, and Sabira’s paws had been drenched in blood. Some might say ‘the blood of an innocent’, but the hatred streaming from the Amuni’s eyes into Sabira’s cool gaze was anything but innocent.
“You disgust me.” She spat simply, going at the throat of the other. It seemed like certain victory, until a sickening sensation took over the Director’s body.
“What is? AUUUGHNNN.” It felt like something was being pulled out of her throat, like a thick scarf was being withdrawn in some sick Magician’s trick. It was hard to breathe, hard to move, she began to feel ill. She turned her head away from the crumpled and shallowly breathing form of the canine to see the impressive stature of a Pope… a Thirty boar whose eyes held the same expression of the struggling Canine.
The silver rings on his face seemed to radiate and shift, or maybe that was just the pressure of her struggling.
+You cannot take both at once, smelly boar!
Sabira realized then what he was trying to do to her. He was trying to sever her soul strand. And Ukuraibhi was trying to surface with such power that Sabira was being torn in the middle of their battle. The boar seemed perplexed, but determined.
“You will pay.” And as if on cue to these magic words, Sabira’s head snapped backwards, her mane filling out with a rusty red-brown color foreign to the Director’s bloodline. The eyes and face of Ukuraibhi lowered onto the boar, smirking devilishly.
“I will not. Not to you!” And with this she lunged forward, Sabira trapped below the surface and screaming inside. Even if they had been able to fight back well together, Ukura was throwing caution and concentration to the wind, leaving Sabira to fend for both of their mental protection. Meanwhile, she was trying to communicate to the stupid girl that there was a good chance they might lose.
In her hysteria, Ukura was reckless, and the boar easily caught her under her right ribcage and sent her hurdling into a tree. The rusty mane began to fill out with strands of black again, one eye changing color and then back again. Ukura hit her head off the tree with force and snarled through the mental pressure.
+Let me do this.
*You can’t win!
+I’ve grown stronger since we met, so much stronger inside, thanks to you.
*You’re not in your right mind, you idiot.
+I’ll wipe that smug look off his face, watch me!
Again, Ukuraibhi charged headlong into the fight, but less than a meter away from the Pope, she began to feel a burning sensation as he summoned another ability. Sabira took this moment of confusion to push through, and was then confronted with the burning sensation, as if she had swallowed acid.
She coughed up a liquid darker than blood and glared at her ‘opponent’. She couldn’t fight like this. Ukura was a scathing anger in the back of her skull and she was starting to feel light-headed. She couldn’t channel both sides of the pain at once, and still hope to make it out alive.
The feline screamed long and loud, the sound ending in a different voice than it had started with. Sabira didn’t have the strength to keep control, and Ukuraibhi took the last bit of space between herself and the boar with force, locking her own horns between his long tusks. Stuck together like this, he whipped his head to the side and she was scraped along the ground like a dirty rag.
It wasn’t enough distraction, because the Possession just pushed back to her feet and struggled in vain against the much larger beast.
*You’re not that strong, he can toss you around with his head!
+Fine. I don’t have to play fair!
With that thought, when the feline was dragged to the other side, she came back to her feet, spraying dirt into his eyesight. He reared back, taking her off the ground, and she scratched down the length of his nose with her back claws. She was thrown again to the side, and used her front paws plus the momentum of the throw to dislodge her horns from his tusks.
*Run!
She could feel her muscles arguing with her as Ukura waited to go back in and ‘finish him’.
*You have a chance, now run! Run! I won’t die with you, stupid girl.
+Get out of my head!
Sabira smirked as her visage resurfaced and Ukuraibhi was forced painfully back inside the confines of their mind.
*Fine. As you wish.
And with that, and the taste of his power still in her throat, she turned tail and ran. It wasn’t dignified or graceful, but she’d live to see another day. And she knew now more than ever, she had to make some kind of pact with the girl snarling angrily in her mind.
