Silent steps were taken down an overgrown path through the forest, slow, calculated and smoothe. He was in no hurry this afternoon, in fact it was rare to see the patchwork male in a hurry. Dezraeonus found such things to be frivolous and unnecessary, he much preferred to take the time out of his day to stop and smell the various flora that grew in these lands, even if he wished he didn't have to remain within them, wishing and hoping with every part of his being to return to the Homeland, as he refereed to it, with their ancestors. As the Darkness type continued his leisurely stroll, pieces of his form flickered in and out of existence as the shadows of the trees fell over him, perhaps this is where the rumors of lost spirits came from? Perhaps other Darkness types had strolled down these very paths, disappearing when the shadows hit them, and reappearing when the light did. It was something to think about, but nothing that made him feel any less of an outcast. An outcast that couldn't do anything right, not even something as simple as shifting to blend with those blasted humans. He grimaced at this thought, shaking his head to get his mind on another track, no need to tap into the past, which was the past and should be left there. He did, however, pause his motions to debate which direction should be next, shadows falling over parts of him, making them blend right in while other parts were firmly in this reality, giving him a broken appearance.

It wasn't often that she wandered into shadowed havens. She was a creature of light and life, and as such she strayed toward those elements. In light she was afire, a creature crafted in poise and grace with beauty that shimmered as a radiant glow, ethereal as a goddess. Beauty was something that was part of her, being an embodiment of that strange and elusive emotion known as love. The decorations that might seem gaudy upon others fit her and served only to enhance, to enchant. An Aphrodite bedecked in gold and roses. And yet here she was faded and she looked near mortal in her beauty, something that was near painful in the faded light, sharpened by the shadows. And it suited her mood as well, broken, for love is a fickle and wild emotion, and she had been scarred many times over and yet forced to relive. It was what made her after all, and how could she escape what she was? And yet she wished that it would just leave her for once. This Hunter had hurt her maybe the worst of all, partially of her own ignorance. 'And love was a blinded fool, after all...' She paused and raised her head, suddenly noticing the patchwork before her. She stared somewhat dazed, broken as he was but in reverse, melted by light and not shadow. She smiled softly, a touch shyly, her normally exhuberant personality stalled for now. "Hello," she greeted simply.

Rounded auditories had already picked up on her presence before she became aware of his, so when her gaze finally drifted toward his form, he was already eying her, a rather blank expression painting his features that remained unchanged as her features were stored away. A part of him hoped she'd just continue on her way, most light creatures seemed to do so, while the other half of him screamed for the attention. these screams were muffled easily by his darker, bitter side and mostly the darkness won, but for now he'd give the light a chance.
His movements were smooth, but anyone watching would definitely not get away without a blink or two as the parts of him that disappeared into the shadows shifted as he sat back upon his haunches. His gaze never wavered as he waited for her to speak first, he never liked to have the first word in any situation, especially not where others were concerned.
Velvet lined ears twitched up as a solitary word came from the femme, multiple piercings catching a bit of the fading light and sparkled briefly before auditories were returned to their former position. He left a short pause between his hello and hers, as if he were trying to form the words in his head before speaking them out loud, his voice was deep and held a raspy undertone, as if it hadn't been used in quite some time. "Hello."
Quite the conversationalist... wasn't he?

The subtle disappearance in his shadows was nothing new to her, and indeed partially something almost comforting and familiar. She shifted too, slightly, almost as if a young girl shyly shuffling her feet together, the light playing the same vanishing act over her.
The voice was a surprise though, the slowness to speak. She had known Darkness types, well, to be fair only one, but even for their nihilism they usually had some social ties. His voice sounded...as if it had been locked away for quite awhile. Strange, strange indeed. She could already tell that if their chance meeting were to continue, she would do most of the talking. But that was alright, she was used to being the talkative one. She glanced at the ground shyly, unsure of how to lead. With the others at least they had given her some clues, but this one...was not so easy to read.
"I am sorry, I hope it doesn't hurt you to speak. Your voice I mean, the roughness...not that I mind! It's just I wouldn't want to cause you pain...er, if I was..."
The words tumbled over each other, ridiculously childish almost. Concern for her was always an overblown emotion, but she usually had at least a vague handle upon it. But now, that handle was gone, the shadows stripping her bare. Awkward, she glanced at the ground again. "I'm sorry, again. I must sound like an idiot. You were wandering alone weren't you? I suppose I should go then..."
She trailed off, looking at him perhaps to tell her what to do. A child lost and in need of guidance, her form flitting in and out of existence in the light.

His gaze continued to linger, giving her an amount of eye contact most would deem rude or unnerving. He lacked most of the social etiquette most were raised knowing, even if some chose not to abide by those unwritten laws. He wasn't shy, however, merely new to this game and a tad overwhelmed by it. Not like many wished to interact with a creature of his appearance and heritage. Oh how he longed to return to their ancestors, the Euclides or Amuni would embrace him, for the others of his kind had shown him no real redeemable qualities. A boy could dream.
He was, however, more inclined to speak with this one for she reminded him vaguely of his mother, the beautiful, quiet and talented Artisan she was. She'd been quite the lovely Darkness and always had a kind word for him. Had the light before him been feline, however, he'd probably would have stormed off by now. He couldn't look at felines, they brought back to many bad things, he couldn't even look at his own reflection for this reason.
"No apologies, no pain, just out of practice. If you have somewhere to be, leave, if not." With that his shoulders were shrugged, he would not keep her from something that needed done. He remembered one rule and merely spoke his name as an introduction, figuring that she would understand. "Dezraeonus."

She gave another soft smile, easing into the conversation. She shook her head, her feather earring tickling her cheek. "Aiyanashae," she said, returning his greeting. "I have nowhere to go..."
His gaze didn't bother her, she was used to eyes. Of course his were on her not for the reasons that others' usually were, and that was a bit comfortable to know. She would like a break from that now, a reason she had wandered into the dark of this forest. It was a long way from her usual haunt, she now realized, so unfamiliar to her was the territory. She let her body slide into a resting position, gracefully tucking her legs beneath her. She tilted her head, and her voice started again. It was just nice to have a conversation with someone who didn't look at her with something else in their eyes.
"Out of practice? I think I understand. I knew...know a Darkness. He doesn't like to talk much either. Kind of looks a little bit like you too."
She stopped herself before she went any further. Obsydien, she hadn't seen him for the longest time but she wasn't about to let anymore slip about him than already known. He wasn't on the right side of the law anyways, but once she started caring for someone she couldn't stop just like that. She had tried to protect him in anyway she could, even though their parting had been anything but a sweet goodbye. She looked off at the paths, the ones Dezraeonus had been eyeing before she interrupted.
"Where were you headed, if you don't mind my asking...?"

He sat in silence, being the perfect listener as she went on about this other darkness, that looked like him. There weren't any other Darkness that looked like him, he was pretty sure, unless she meant feline, then he'd understand that. He hadn't run across many other Darkness types in his aimless travels, and none had been patchworks like himself. In fact, he'd yet to hear of another patchwork Defore.Perhaps he -was- as much of a freak as he'd been called over the years ... by humans and Defore alike. He bit his lip, distracting his mind from it's thoughts. Blast it all he was always thinking, and hardly ever about anything good.
At her question he perked his ears once more, thinking over a response, for really he hadn't a clue. "Whichever way called most to me, I have no set place to go. Where I want to go most I cannot." blast his inability to shift properly... if only he could, he could catch a ship to England and be exactly where he wanted to be. A soft sigh escaped his maw as he turned his head and gazed toward the general direction of the sea.
