G E N E R A L Q. Can we trade our LC between members? A. Short answer? No. The only exchange of LC occurs when one is abandoned, and then readopted out to another, active member. Occasionally Mem may host an LC swap, or allow individuals to trade in their inactive LC for points to be readopted out to new members. But these cases are moderated by Mem and occur only at specifically noted times. Members may not exchange LC, or any character, on their own.
Q. Are we allowed to gift characters/familiars/items to people? A. To accepted members of the forum and only if the things in question are requested for the purpose of gifting. So, if you win a custom LC in a contest, you may choose to make it and gift it to another member, but you cannot give away, say, one won in a raffle or one you already own and play. You may also commission gifts for members as well.
Q. When can I reboot my old characters? A. You can reboot at any time, even if its a year or two down the road. Once the whole re-joining process dies down I'll set up a proper sub-board or thread for reboot requests. So yes, you can keep all your characters on the back burner and bring them in one by one as you want/need them.
It's actually better not to reboot until you have a muse for your characters. Old characters who are rebooted will be subject to being taken back if left inactive, while OWers who aren't rebooted will never be taken back.
Q. What do I have to do to keep my LC from being abandoned?
If more than a month passes and a character as not been roleplayed yet (meaning nothing has been done with this character, ever) it will be taken back for redistribution.
So long as a character has been roleplayed, and has at least one or two active threads every 5 months or so, they won't be taken back.
I don't want my LC to turn into webpage candy. They're supposed to be used. So, as long as you do use them, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. It's the character that end up sitting on a page with no interaction that will be taken back.
Q. What's the difference between a journal entry/private roleplay and fanfiction? Fanfiction would have to be posted in the "art" section, in the OoC boards. And for that you get the appropriate amount of PP.
It's really a matter of PP vs. CP, and totally the player's choice. I always thought of private role-play (which can include roleplay with NPCs, of course) and journal entries mainly as a means of character development. I'm also directing people to that board for their reboot-bebe prompts and guild initiation prompts.

R O L E - P L A Y Q. With the rehash of types... what happens if we want to bring back an LC with a non-existant type? A. Old-world types on old-world LC is perfectly acceptable. c: You can still breed them, earn abilities, etc. etc. They're just "retired" types now, meaning no more will be made, except through breeding. Also, an old-world retired type will be an immediate indicator (IC) that this character is pretty old.
Q. If I have an old-world character, and I want them to live in Sultherem instead of Terra, do I have to change its name to fit the local naming rules? A. Old worlders get to keep their old world names, they don't need to be changed. (Characters can also be born in one province, named appropriately for their background, and move to another while still keeping their original name. It's just a culture thing.)
Q. How easy is it to travel between provinces? A. Provinces, in general, are pretty easy to travel to (barring species, of course). There's also some information on the forms of transporation here.
People travel all the time. There's always a chance of something bad happening, such as attack from dangerous wild animals or bandits. There are roads that go through the majority of provinces as well, which are pretty well maintained and safe.
Q. My character is a defore. Does being an artisan effect the sort of job/role they usually play? A. Back on earth, an artisan usually had jobs related to creating clothing and jewelry. On Izarn, she's probably have an inclination toward creating and making things to some sort, whether that be working as an architect, making home-made jewelry, or even as a chef! C: And she isn't limited to any of those, either, but she should be creatively inclined.
Q. My character is a defore. Do I get to choose her element? And do I have to roleplay it out? A. If it's not stated in her stats, you can choose her element. The "choosing" doesn't need to be roleplayed out.
Q. How expensive is travel generally between provinces? Obviously there would be a tradeoff between time taken and money spent, and some means would probably only be available to the wealthy/prestigious. A. Walking would be the most time consuming, but it is free. Likewise if you happen to own larger draft animals and a cart, you wouldn't have to pay for the service and travel would be much quicker. Big animals themselves aren't cheap, though, which is something to keep in mind. The most expensive and fastest modes of transportation would be the airships (also very safe, except from the occassional pirate) and crawlers (which are fast and large, but are still at the mercy of dangerous animals and bandits).

P O I N T S Q. When we earn points in contests and things, which thing will you keep track of and which is on us? A. Character points, player points, and prestige are all up to the member. Mods may check for errors every once in a while, especially if something seems amiss. Game tokens are kept up entirely by staff, and secor is updated monthly in the nationabl bank. For secor, you only need to post if your character has made a transaction with another character.
Q. Can my LC get demoted in rank? A. Yes, but not by spending points. LC can be demoted by their faction leaders, in which case updates must be posted in the faction records, and through murdon quests. By not completing a request, or by doing so in such a way that the requester is displeased, the murdon may punish your character with demotion.
Q. Does meeting a familiar in role-play count toward points? A. No. Role-playing familiars of any sort aid your character in other ways IC. They aren't meant to increase your point tallies, and don't really count as 'characters.' They're pets.
Q. If you meet multiple LC in a thread, do you only get 1 point for the thread, or 1 point per LC met? A. It's 1 point per character met.
Q. Do I get points for meeting a character multiple times? A. No, you only receive a point for each new character you meet.
Q. Having bebes means gay pregnancies don't count? A. Absolutely not! The "mother" and "father" both receive points, regardless of their gender.
Q. Only permanently mated pairs' offspring count for points? A. It's per breeding, not per offspring, but either way, no. Both temporary and permanent mates get points each time they reproduce.
Q. If someone else had a LC that you own now do their posts with that LC count for it's present point tallies, or only your own? A. Only the points they earn under their current player count. So if you have adopted an abandoned character, they start out with 0 points, regardless of whether or not they had any prior to being abandoned.
Q. Do old spars, with no judges, count toward points? A. No. Only spars that have been officially judged, old or new, count.
Q. Can the "Increased Fertility" Prize be attained by boys to? Or can only women have increased fertility? A. All genders may obtain increased fertility.
Q. If my character has "high choice of increasing rank" in his notes when I adopted them, does this mean I still need to earn the full amount of points? A. No. If you have a "high choice" note, you are only required to earn half the points needed to reach the rank your notes indicate. (eg. If you have a puppeteer, and your notes state he's likely to be a script writer, he'll only need half the points to reach the script writer rank. If he wants to become a director, he'll need to earn all the points required).
Q. Do hunt posts count toward points? A. Absolutely! One point per post, as per usual. You only receive points for the character that was assigned to the hunt, not for any characters obtained during it.
Q. During the hunt, do we count characters we obtain as "met"? A. Yes. You lead character will receive the appropriate points for each character obtained during the hunt. Characters obtained during the hunt, only receive "met" points from the hunt lead, not the other characters obtained.
Q. Do the character's from the first hunt get points for meeting a murdon, even though the hunt was summarized at that point? A. No. All 'meetings' must actually occur through role-play. This applies to characters obtained during the hunt as well. If you didn't meet any of your obtained characters during the actual role-play period, no "met" points are assigned to either.
Q. Do parents get "met" points for their offspring? A. Not unless it's been role-played out that they've met. Met points are only obtained through role-play.
Q. Just to clarify - because rebooted characters automatically start with a certain level of prestige (based on the options you give us), their point values from before the reboot do not affect their prestige after it has been chosen, correct? A. Quite right. Actions that occured prior to the reboot will not change a rebooted character's prestige level. Only new actions that occur whilst on Izarn will increase (or decrease) prestige. Prestige didn't really matter as much back on earth, with the LC scattered about as they are and most positions of importance dominated by humans. LC didn't get to have celebrities.
Q. In D&D, well-roundness is a mistake. Points are mostly assigned to stats that are being used, and powers are picked that use those stats. In Mage or Nobilis, it's more important not to suck at too many things, so stats are more well-rounded. Which system is better for choosing stats in the Murdon Legacy? A. You can skew your stats as much as you want. If you want 10 strength, have 10 strength. If you want 7, have 7.
Stats, in this game, are going to be used in "mini-plots" and the occassional game. It's not going to effect much in the actual role-play. A well balanced character is not going to be at any more of an advantage(or disadvantage) than a character with, say, very low intelligence and very high strength. Mini-plots are going to have situations that require both extremes and moderation.
Your stats are going to determine only which situations a character is more suited for, but there will be plots/games for EVERY stat advantage, as well as well-rounded characters.
I want my players to distribute their stats realistically for that character. C: It's not so much about winning/losing the game (because, really, everyone wins in the end. Even losers gets benefits, so long as they participate), but rather character development and immersing one's self into the plots and the world.

I T E M S
Q. If you have a critter with permanently increased fertility, can the other parent use a fertility fruit in the breeding and have the two effects 'stack'? A. Absolutely! You can use multiple fertility fruits in a breeding, and stack like-type fertility fruits as well, to increase your chances.
