Benji's breath caught in his throat at the accusation. How did she know? He'd been to obvious, with his explanation of his marks. Brining up lapines and going on about his family. But she still shouldn't have known. Humans, or at least very few humans, knew anything about his kind. Perhaps...perhaps then she was one too?
Benji pulled himself from his thoughts, once again becoming aware of your presence. Cautiously, he stepped toward you once again, his brow furrowed curiously, hesitantly,"Are you..."he cleared his throat,"If I'm a rabbit, what does that make you, sweety?" And alas, his grin was back. This would prove interesting.
He did not receive his answer before the chain was slipped out of the bag, so his question was quickly forgotten for the moment. It was, after all, a very unusual artifact. "A chain?" the young man question, crouching down to peer more closely,"Well ain't that...interes'ing." It wouldn't be normally, but the way you spoke about it had captured his attention. It wasn't everyday you found a pretty young lady walking about with a thick black chain in her luggage.
Ah yes, a mission. One that was going nowhere fast as long as you stayed up here chatting.

As his question clicked in her head, another giggle was given and, since he had stepped closer, she patted him lightly on the cheek. "The fact that I can purr while looking like a human should answer that question for you." And with that she slipped the chain back into her bag and closed it once again.
She was well aware of the fact that time was a wasting away and she was also quite certain that she wanted this lapine to come with her, and he would, she'd make sure of it. "Benji...." She said his name in a sing song voice, "If it isn't to much trouble... could you please assist me in my quest... thingy?" She put an emphasis on please, she'd ask nicely first, at least give him a chance to tell her no if he really wanted.

"A feline?!" Benji's bright eyes grew wide with surprise," Well ain't you a barrel full a surprises. I heard that felines were rare among defore,"he dipped his head, touching his fingers off his scalp like he'd done previously, an odd semblance of tipping a hat," I'm honored t' finally meet one,"he glanced back up grinning. He had no way of knowing you were a Euclides after all, apart from last night, after his wild attempt at getting to the warehouse like every other Legacy Creation, he probably hadn't even known they existed. He bent down to pick up the bags once again, now that you'd returned your chain to its rightful place. Your question surprised him though, and he stood a little too quickly, sending a sharp shock up his arms and shoulders. He winced, but quickly brushed the feeling off. "Join you? Little ol' me?" he grinned, apparently cheerful now that the whole 'lapine' deal had been cleared up," Aw shucks, Sweety, I'd be more than happy to help you out. I ain't got much else to do 'ere anyway. Jus' a little errand, but that won't take long." An American Defore wouldn't have just popped up into Egypt for shits and giggles, after all. Of course he'd have an agenda of his own. "So, where're we off to first?" Where indeed. You had a few choices in front of you. There was always the market, down below the stairs, crowded with people, foreign fruits, and strange trinkets. Then there were the houses and inns across from them, casting their friendly shadows down. It might be nice of you to let Benji find a place to set your bag down, before he ruined his back. Lastly, there was the train station itself, where you might find a map or a guide for the city, perhaps some information on the best places to visit. It's your choice. Make it however you like. -(Congrats! You just found a Defore! His image and stats will be added to your intro post shortly.
Now that he's yours, would you like to take over roleplaying him? Or leave him to Mem? Keep in mind that you may change your decision at any time during the roleplay, this will not be your only chance to do so. )-

At his automatic assumption that she was a Defore, she bit her lip, thinking. Well, he seemed like a rather understanding lapine, and if he were traveling with her, he'd certainly find out eventually that she wasn't a Defore, so she might as well clue him in now, so he wouldn't be mad at her lately, he was an interesting chap, and even though he wasn't a Euclides, she still enjoyed his company. "Deary, I’m afraid I'm a Euclides, unfortunately you've seen some rather bad representatives last night, bloody brutal blokes they were. I, on the other hand, have some manners, so no worries, just don't watch me hunt." She gave him a sort of sheepish grin, hoping he'd take that well.
"If you're still coming with me, I say we go to the Inn and get a room to set this stuff down, wouldn't want to kill yuh, then I wanna see the marketplace, it may hold something interesting to help me along as I have no clue where I'm going or who exactly I'm looking for. And..." She took a quick pause and a breath, "What do you think I should call myself? My name is a bit odd, even for a 'tourist'." She was awful at making up names, so she wanted his input.

"Well then,"he chuckled nervously, obviously trying to hide any disappointment he'd found with that,"So long as you don't hunt me!" He quirked an awkward grin at you, adjusting the bags to fit more comfortably over his shoulders,"Ah, I don't care what you are. Yer still a pretty gal,"he winked,"And yer alright with me bein' what I am,"he paused,"Ain't you?"
"Gosh, yes. I'd love to set these things down, no offense meant, Sweety, but your chain is a might bit heavy. Can't be cartin' it around all day." With that, the pair of you started down the long, length of stairs. It wasn't very wide, so you were lucky no one else seemed to be going up it, just down, like you and all the other passengers. It was a rather tedious trek, but at least you were going downhill. You'd hate to be going up, Benji especially, with two heavy packs on his back.
Soon enough you made it to the bottom, slightly winded, but not too bad. Benji was it a bit worse shape than you, sweat pouring down his brow. He loosened his kerchief again, before tossing a smile your way,"A name? Perhaps...Cecillia?" It was the only name he could think of that sounded remotely like your own.
Neither of you stopped to elaborate on the name, instead heading down the street toward the buildings. There were a few inns readily available, two to your left, "The Gazelle" and "Naitep's House", and one to your right,"The Pyramid." They were all relatively close, so distance was not an issue.

"Oh I wouldn't hunt you dear, notta problem." She grinned at his next sentence, moving closer to him again, reaching up and running a finger lightly over his cheek. "Course I am, not often you run across such a handsome lad with good manners." And his wink was returned.
"It's not meant to be carried in a bag, maybe later I'll show you how it's really supposed to be carried." As they started down the stairs, she kept a hand on him, still quite reluctant to risk losing him in the crowd even if it was just a slow, downward path, there was still that hair of a chance, and she didn’t really want to take to many risks at the present moment.
When they reached the bottom of the stairs she paused and got close again, looking up at him and whispering, if he was a lapine he'd have good enough hearing to catch her words. "You’re staying with me; it'll be a lot less trouble for the both of us lad." She flashed him a killer smile before turning to eye the three choices in front of them and, since she had limited money to spend, moved towards the least expensive looking of the three Inns.

Benji blushed at your words,"With you? In the...the room with you?" there he was, a'tuggin' his sweaty bandanna against,"Only if ye'er comfortable with that, Sweety." He certainly didn't seem comfortable with it.
The cheapest looking in? That would be The Gazelle, which certainly wasn't bad looking, but the other two were covered with fancy advertisements, in better shape, and had silks, satins, and beads hanging over their windows and doors. You and Benji head toward it wearily, tired of the heat, and parched something horrible. You slip inside the door, immediately noticing, or rather not noticing, any chance in temperature. It was still stifling hot.
It also looked as if you were going to have to wait. No one was at the clerks desk, and there didn't seem to be any place for the innkeeper to be hiding. He was most likely out, or overseeing the rest of his building. You'd either have to wait here and hope he came back, or leave and try one of the more expensive looking inns.
It wasn't as if you'd be board out of your mind if you stayed, though, there were a few other people expecting the innkeepers return. Most of them were probably fellow passengers, fresh off the train.
The closet to you were a dark-skinned young woman and her toddler of a son, who clung shyly to her leg as he watched the pair of you approach the desk. Across from them was a stern looking man, his mouth and chin hidden behind thick, black stubble. Definitely a foreigner, but not an unintelligent looking one. The last two, must've been the exact opposite. They looked very much out of place, wearing clothing unusual for any person or culture you'd ever seen. Odd. The pair were arguing quite loudly with one another about a painting that hung from the far wall.

"Of course I am, dear." She grinned and swiftly went up on her toes, giving him a light kiss on the cheek, expecting it to make his blush increase, perhaps double. She was slowly becoming convinced that she could get her lapine friend here to do just about whatever she wanted, and that made her feel quite good, quite good indeed. "Go ahead and relax, and let the bags sit, just watch them, alright?" She motioned her hand to a seat against the wall, for surely the waiting room of an Inn, especially one where the keep found it a good idea to be absent, held something to sit on for the wait. "I'm going to see if I can find anything out that might help me, but I really think it's best if you rest, can't have you all worn out before the day is done." She winked, letting him that that however he wished.
She eyed the company quickly and decided upon the foreign gentleman, she hadn't the temperament currently to deal with infants or bickering, so he was the wisest choice. She turned her head, giving Benji a smile before heading over to the foreign man, hoping he would be more pleasant then he looked. "'Ello there."

You were right. Benji's blush increased tenfold at the chaste peck, and he dutifully nodded his head before adjusting the packs around his shoulders and trotting off toward the bench. He plunked down beside the woman and her child, offering them a nervous smile, and slid his baggage to the floor. Perhaps he'd do some of your work for you, engaging the young lady and her charge in conversation while you entertained the stern-looking man.
The man, who was quite a bit taller than you, did not immediately set his gaze on you. He paused, keeping his eyes well above your head, in attempt to will you away, or some such thing. When he realized you weren't going anywhere, he let out a quiet sight, plastered on a friendly smile, and directed his gaze on you,"Good afternoon miss."He offered no more conversation than that. He was obviously not the most social of persons.

She glanced back towards her lapine companion, and noticed him chatting up some more of the ... guests here andm ade a mental note to see if he found out anything interesting from them. Ot out of the ordinary really, interesting may be interesting but there's still a chance it could be your average, everyday, useless information, like a story or some other nonesense.
She turned her gaze back to the rather crotchity seeming gentleman, or rather UP to him, since, boy was he tall. When he spoke was was encouraged though, and thus flashed him a smile. "Good afternoon sir, from where do you hail? Obviously not from around here." She tilted her head to the side a bit, an inquisitive expression gracing her features. She'd ask more questions in a bit, just had to warm him up a bit is all.

"No,"he said simply,"I'm not. I -hail-,"he stressed the word, and the corner of his lips curled upward in amusement,"from no where in particular. But I have come here from Germany." If he was German, he hid his accent well. In fact, he his any accent well, cleverly disguising his voice as...some strange lilt you've never heard before. This one seemed very closed about himself and his identity. He turned his gaze from you, to your companion.
Benji was happily chatting up a storm with the woman. She seemed awkward around him, unsure of him, and certainly not happy about his attempts to lure her into discussion. The child was shy, but curious, watching and listening the lapine with rapt attention from behind his mother's knees.
"Your friend seems more out of place than you. You're a foreigner as well?"

Well, Tiki was encouraged by two things, his continued interaction with her and that upward curl of his lip which hinted amusement. He would now find it hard to get rid of her, she was determined and he didn't seem beyond her reach now.
She followed his gaze back to Benji, and then peered up at him again. his words brought a look of confusion to her delicate countenance. "Are you sure? I was certain I stuck out more then he did ..." She took breif pause to mull this over in her mind before shrugging her shoulders and concentrating on his question. "Aye, that I am. I hail from Ireland, bit far from home for both of us, aye?"

The foreigner's almost-amused smirk persisted, seeming somewhat forced perhaps. It seemed he was doing his best to retain a sense of pleasant civility."Quite. Far, that is."
His eyes drifted away from you and over to your Benjesti. The woman was nodding eagerly, saying a few words, too soft for you to hear. It seemed she was caught up in the tide of the lapine's words, if not warming up then feigning interest so that perhaps he might leave them in peace. The boy was peeking out slightly more, a grin flashing around the tiny corners of his mouth. It seemed the lapine noticed this as well, for his tone and actions became slightly more exaggerated for the effect.
"It is not so much by appearance but actions, they are much more disruptive than yours. He wears his foreign origin far more prominently."
Again the stranger's train of conversation drew away from himself deftly. He would not be an easy one to pry into.

Once again she peered over at Benji, watching the conversation which had, at first, been almost forced, like what she was pulling from this gentleman, but now seemed ot have a distinct, comfortable flow. Again she made a note to ask about what he'd found out later, but for now she had no interest in that. She was far mroe interested in the strange fellow before her.
She turned her attention back to him, a smirk twisting the corner of her lips up and her voice taking on a rather matter-of-fact tone. "Your hiding something." She eyed his face carefully, looking for any distinctive twitches or changes that would confirm her accusation. It was a bold one, but it might do the trick, he needed to open up!

The stranger's once passably affable smile hardened, making somewhat of a scary grimace when set against his black stubble. "And if I am hiding something, young lady," there was a note of scorn in the address. "It is none of your concern."
His eyes flicked away with a sense of firm finality. He was now more clammed up than ever. Benjesti gave you a sideways glance, perhaps a bit worried about your fare with the stranger, perhaps feeling your eyes upon him. He gave a small smile to show that he was faring well in his endeavors, and shot a little wink before he turned back to the mother and child. It had loosened to the extent that the lady gave no protective reaction as the lapine ruffled her son's hair. How endearing, but perhaps not so familiar to a Euclides like yourself.
Now, what to do about your now steely German friend?
